nice package...

Nicepackage

i'm sure that by now you've heard of the new shop, nice package.

it's a darling shop of various packaging goods.

oh, i just love pretty packages and supplies. i've had dreams of opening my own supply shop... maybe one day..

check out their goods here, and here, and their very cute blog here.

paris calendar...

i absolutely love this calendar! what a great idea!

when nichole robertson was living in paris, she took photo after photo hoping to use them for her home. then, she came up with a great idea to make a darling calendar with the photo's she collected.

they are now available to purchase in her shop!
this would be a great christmas gift idea!

the kids table...

Picture 16

remember when you were a kid and you had to sit at the kids table at holiday gatherings?

well, i don't think i'd mind sitting at this one put together by sweet paul.

love the his idea of using kraft paper as the table cloth and drawing in some place mats! makes for some good entertaining with coloring and easy clean up!

i wish...

.... i was staying at this adorable little cottage in sweden. can you believe chelsea of frolic has been spending the last few months here! what a lucky girl!

... i can dream, right?

pesto mayo...

i couldn't be more obsessed with pesto mayo on a nice hot panini!

take the pledge...

I Took The Handmade Pledge! BuyHandmade.org

as i make my jewelry, and participate in these great local markets. i feel very proud of the handmade movement and feel strongly about supporting local unique handmade goods.

so, i took the pledge. and, i'm urging you to take the pledge too. click here.

this means, i will "pledge to buy handmade this holiday season, and i urge others to do the same for me."

i've already started as i've attended a few local handmade markets, and will continue to this holiday season through etsy and the upcoming beehive bazaar.

it just takes a little planning. start writing your christmas list today, and keep in mind who you are shopping for when you go to these shows. trust me, you'll find much more unique items at these shows than at a mall, and they are handmade with love... and often times a bargain!

if you are shopping on etsy or other handmade sites, keep in mind the time it takes to ship and plan ahead for that so you can have all your goodies here on time.

feels great knowing how and where products are produced that you are buying!

good luck! and, take the pledge already!

norah's blessing dress...

i completely forgot to post pictures of my little norah's blessing dress.
i'm sure you got a little peek at it when you saw pictures of her room.
i hung it up to take a few pictures, then decided to keep it below her shelf because it looked so darn cute there.

anyhow, i really loved her little dress, and she looked like a little doll in it. [see pictures of her in it on my photography blog, here]

it's a feltman brothers dress. i love it because it looks very vintage, and is very simple. my favorite part was the pink embroidery and pleats on the front!

crunchy doughnut eyeballs...

i love these little doughnut hole eye balls.

just might be the perfect last minute halloween treat!

{crunchy doughnut hole eyeballs}
recipe and photo from here

ingredients

20 glazed doughnut holes.
1 cup(s) premier white morsels2 tablespoon(s) solid vegetable shortening.
20 Life Savers Gummies®
20 medium mini candy-coated milk chocolate candies, M&M’s Minis®
2 drop(s) red food coloring

directions

Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or waxed paper. Cut 1/8-inch-thick slices from 2 opposite sides of each doughnut hole.
Melt white morsels and vegetable shortening in top of double boiler or in a microwave-safe bowl in microwave.
Working with one doughnut hole at a time, use a fork to dip into melted morsels mixture to coat. Lift coated doughnut holes from coating, shaking excess melted morsels mixture back into bowl. Place coated doughnut holes, one cut-side down, on prepared cookie sheet.
Place jellied candies on top of doughnuts. Dab chocolate candies with some of remaining melted morsels mixture and press onto jellied candies. Chill in refrigerator for 10 minutes or until coating is set.

In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of remaining melted morsels mixture and 2 drops of red food coloring. Using toothpick, paint colored morsels mixture onto doughnut eyeballs to resemble scary veins.

Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

crafts for halloween...

i always love getting the october issues of magazines in the mail. they always have the best ideas for halloween! here's a few from country living!

paranormal portraits

lantern pumpkins

black and white pumpkins [i think i'm going to give this a try this year!]

pumpkin votive candle holder

tricks for treats bags

dinner menu...

for the last little while i've been trying to plan my dinner menu for the week in advance. some weeks i do really well, some not so much.

but, when i do get them all planned out it makes my life so much easier because i already have a list of things to cook for the week, and my grocery list is planned and i don't have to make a million last minute trips to the store. which in the end saves a lot of time and money.

i usually make a list of about 4-5 dinners i'd like to eat that week. i don't have each day planned in case i feel like a certain meal a certain day, but i do make sure i have all of the ingredients ready for all the meals. it also helps if somehow the ingredients can blend a little so i don't waste fresh produce and such.

anyhow, here's this weeks menu: [click on title for links to recipes]

salmon in parchement paper {photo above, via say yes to hoboken}
tilapia with lemon cream sauce and baby red potatoes
pinapple fajitas

life...

wow! i know i'm a broken record, but things have been so busy around my house lately.

i feel like i haven't been able to keep up on things ever since coming back from vacation. ever feel that way?

anyhow, i've been preparing for norah's big blessing day and luncheon this past sunday, so that has kept me busy. i'll share some pics later this week.

another thing that has been keeping me busy, and in the bathroom much more than i'd like, is potty training my little z man. he's starting to get the hang of it, thank goodness. so, i hope it continues. i figure i'll give it a good try for a week, then decide if he's really ready. it's only been a few days, and he's gone in the potty a lot, but also a few accidents.

but, he sure looks cute in his big boy undies..

oh, and p.s. don't forget to check out my latest post about the epcot food and wine festival over on the zupas blog. click here.

recovering...

just got back from a week long vacation at disneyworld in florida. we had the best time! so tiring, but fun!

so, hopefully i'll be back soon, once i've recovered... and, my piles of laundry get done.

today i'm just trying to relax and recover a bit. the suitcases are still hanging out on the floor and the mr. is picking up dinner from cafe rio!

oh! and, guess who i ran into late last night at the airport? ms stephanie [nie nie herself]! she was just beautiful, and as nice as can be! i was a bit flustered waiting with my two kiddos and three large suitcases. she was a doll and asked if i needed any help since my husband was off getting the car. what a sweetheart. i'm glad she's doing so well! did you catch her on oprah today? what an amazing person!

to do, to do...

wow! i have so much to do today, i really have NO business blogging.

i've been trying to get rid of all my tomatoes and make a huge batch of this soup. i'm also a little sad that i won't be having fresh salsa nearly everyday as tomato season ends. but, i am determined to make a few batches of my pesto today before all my basil dies, since last year i waited too long and there was an early frost. and, word on the street is that in these parts, there's going to be some crazy weather the next few days..

so, to the last days of summer!! ...or, since i guess it's officially over... welcome fall!!

i suppose.

peaches...

i guess my first canning experience last year didn't scare me off from doing it again this year.

it's a lot of work, but the peaches are not even comparable to the store canned ones... so much better. we also were given a huge bushel of peaches for free... so, i was all over that.
